South Hampshire Quest

In 1879, people flocked to Blackpool to see the illuminations which consisted of a whole 6 lights.   People had never seen anything like this before, as they were used to gaslight and travelled from all over the place to see this new phenomenon named as “Artifical Sunshine”.   Today there are literally thousands of illuminations from 31 August to 4 November and we are off to Blackpool to catch the last rays of the Artificial Sunshine and also to celebrate Ian and Vanessa’s birthdays.

A rough outline for the weekend is as follows:-

I hereby formally invite you to join myself and Vanessa for afternoon tea on Sunday the 26th of February. Unfortunately one's budget doesn't quite surfice for an afternoon at the Ritz so on this occasion one shall be have a spiffing time instead from 2 o'clock at the Grand Cafe in Southampton. For your enjoyment we shall be served sandwiches, scones, fruit, and a choice of tea's for the sum of £12.50 per person. If one wishes to include something a little stronger with your afternoon tea for the sum of £19 per person you may find a glass of Deutz champagne a more enjoyable proposition. Please let myself know by 18th February 2012 if you wish to grace us with your presence so that I may call ahead and let them know we are attending.

Saturday 17 March is officially St Patricks Day.

As I have two Irish cats, Paddy and Lyffee;  (and you can’t get much more Irish than being named Paddy) (and Lyffee was named after the River Lyffee in Dublin); I thought it would be fun to celebrate all things Irish with an American Irish Supper Party.  We are going to eat, drink and be merry little leprechauns.

Fun starts at 7 pm.

Bring Irish food to share.  ( I will provide some jacket potatoes).

 Becoming Fit while having Fun! Come along to Zumba at the Mo'Club on Thursday the 15th of March! This will be the first one off to find out if we actually like it enough to go again..

Meet outside at 6.15pm, wear fitness type clothes & trainers..

Grab the safety bar and hold on tight because we're off to Chessington to experience all the fab rides!  If your like me and don't really "do" rides Chessington's are a little more sedate in comparison to Thorpe Park/Alton Towers.  There are 9 themed lands where you will find rides including  "The Vampire", "Rameses Revenge," "Bubbleworks", and "Dragon Falls".  We will aim to get there for just after 10am when the park open's and spend all day there before coming home about 5pm. The tickets are £30 on their own website but we should be able to get them for around £20.  Please let me know you are interested in coming by the 29th February 2012 so we can organise tickets/cars etc.
