Return of the Blue Night
And for our annual Blue Night we are going once again all the way up and down and back again on Bevois Valley! We'll be starting at The Hobbit for a pint of that blue stuff, work our way through most of the pubs along the valley and most likely end up in Lennon's to finish the night off! There is a possibility that we take a taxi back home from there, but last year we actually walked all the way home due to being blue in a very Dutch way.. This time we hope that Marmaris is still open on our return!
A bit of Dutch education for you with regards to Blue (Blauw):
If you have blauw blood; you are an aristocrat / royalty.
In calling people nasty names they call you (well, me that is) Blauwtje if you or your ancestors are from Indonesia (hair colour reference as in blue/black hair).
I am also a Blauwvinger (blue finger) as I was born and raised in Zwolle (long story to do with selling a bell and a rival city who paid us in coins, so we had to count a lot).
If you see blue in the face (blauwbekken) you are very very cold.
If you are a non-drinker you could be from the Blauwe Knoop (blue button). In the 19th century people who didn't drink (alcohol) would have a blue button attached to their clothing.
And if you are blauw - you are off your head (drunk).
So, get your tiara's out, dress up blue and let's get blauw together!
