Kutis Royal Thai Pier Evening - Thursday 1 July 2010

Which event:

First Thursdays Food for Thought July 2010

Event Date & Time:
Thursday, 1 July, 2010 - 20:00

As it has been lovely weather (here's hoping it will last until July), I thought it might be nice to try out Kutis on the Pier as we can go out on the back of the pier and watch the boats go by whilst sipping Pimms (or orange juice!).

Kutis on The Pier serve Thai food and for those of you that have never tried it, they serve an evening buffet where you can try out lots of different starters and main courses.

So text, ring or e-mail me in the usual way if you wanna come along.

There was a good turnout for the Kutis Royal Thai Pier evening; 17 booked with me, 14 people turned up with 3 apologies.  Inside the pier building, the decor was in the traditional purple vibe of Kutis which seemed to give a calming effect as there were a lot of people inside on the ground floor.  There was access to the terraces but as the weather was a little cooler, not many ventured outside but, for those who did, there was a lovely view of the river and the boats sailing by.  (And the dent in the pier where the Isle of Wight ferry crashed into it a few weeks ago).

We opted for the buffet as some of us were not sure what Thai food consisted of.  There was a choice of seasonal salads, Thai Chicken Salad, Thai Seafood Salad, 7 battered starters such as wontons and battered potatoes and vegetables, 11 main dishes, Thai Curry, Duck in Chilli Sauce, Beef with Vegetables,4 vegetarian dishes; too many to remember but all tasted good, 2 rice dishes and 3 Thai puddings; coconut jelly, hot bananas in coconut sauce and fruits.

We even had the added entertainment of an incredibly good magician at the table: I think that Laura is still pondering where her ring went to and the look on her face was a picture when the magician took it out of a sealed envelope in his wallet.

We had one slight mishap, Mark got directed upstairs to a private party, where he had a lovely time and was apparently well looked after, but completely missed the rest of us.

The service was very good although we were brought the wrong bill at the end.  Our accountant Ian, with his brilliant eye for detail,  leapt to his feet and asked "And who has drunk 25 pints of Cobra?"  Kutis soon rectified their mistake and brought us some lovely chocolates.

A good night out!
