Marvellous Monday 26th of July 2010
What a week, what an adventure.. When your car ever breaks down on the French motor way in the middle of the night (or whatever time for that matter) the words you need in your vocabulary (combined with a cell phone calling 112) are 'Gendarmerie' 'S'il vous plait' 'Je voudrai' 'depaneur' - they will volcano you with a waterfall of other French (as they suspect you understand them clearly as you know so many French words) and if all goes to plan they will send someone to take you back to safety (in about just under 5 hours). Yeah, it was also busy in NaFoF Land and we are expecting it to get even busier! So last week you had a great time at Trago Lounge (I wasn't there as was still on the other side of the water, so if you have missed out paying up for events - feel free to do that this week at Trago!), the Silver Beatles were I bet absolutely amazing as usual, we hope you didn't loose too much coins at the track in Salisbury and the little goat herder (odele odele odele whooho) made a appearance as well.
So, this week we are going again for a pint and a catch-up to Trago Lounge on Thursday. We'll be there from 8.30pm and there might even be some more newbies turning up. Feel free to call me (or contact me through the site for my number) and we'll come and find you.
On Friday it is time for our Psychic Supper at Vanessa's. If you haven't paid up yet - bring your monies with you along with food and drink to share. If you haven't booked in and want to come along; contact Vanessa first as the event might be fully booked.
On Saturday there is still room on the calendar for anything you would like to do - so feel free to post your event for a Saturday Night of Mayhem!
Looking ahead; the Thursday Food for Thought of August has been planned and you can book in now! If you have a Gourmet Society Card, please bring it with you (and let Vanessa know that you will) so you can make use of the 2for1 offer. If you haven't got one of those babies yet - you can apply here (check costings!).
Another card to apply for (this one is free and totally unrelated to anything above) is the BiTE card - when you have this one in your wallet and you are at any train station in the country and a little peckish, you will get 20% savings on food and drink!
We are still taking bookings for the River Boat Shuffle on Saturday the 4th of September and there is also still space on the coach to Thorpe Park on Wednesday the 8th of September, but I will need your payment by this Thursday.
You have a little while to decide if you want to come along to The Pink Ball on Saturday the 16th of October, but the guestlist is filling up very fast and we don't want you to miss out! Last year was a blast and at the moment there are 9 NaFoF'ers on the list (so there is room for you too on our table).
Please contact Karen if you want to come along for a laugh at the Nuffield Theatre for the 5th Anniversary of the Big Gig and / or laugh your socks off at Jeremy Hardy (same venue). I also had a look at Tim Minchin's newest tour, but no Southampton dates (yet) and the closest one is still too far way.. To be continued..
Well, that was it for this week! Rest me to say - Hannah & Steve, that SkyRide looked amazing! Ian, you are nearly there.. Jan, will you be in town this week? And Rob; Bailey must have had a great time camping!
Have a great week & see you all on Thursday!
