Marvellous Monday 22nd Nov 2010

Good Evening Y'all! Last week during the quiz night we managed to get first place, second place and of course the nice biscuits from the raffle.. Very well done (and pretty amazing as we don't actually know that much useful information)! Apparently the link to Mr Strong's Tank Pictures didn't work, so we try it again here - click and let me know if it worked this time.. And yes, it is likely that you will have to log in to see them all!

So, before I launch into the story of the weekend, first some Christmas admin.. Hannah would like to receive your menu asap - that means this week. You can find the menu here and if you log in you can leave your choices in the comments (or email her directly). The following people have booked in: Hannah & Steve, Kirsty & Rich, Ian, Original Mike (£22 outstanding), Sophie (£12 outstanding), Karen (£12 outstanding), Debbie (£22 outstanding), Alan & Michaela (£44 outstanding), Bev, Paralytic Mike, Tine, Helen M, Dawn & Gary (£24 outstanding due to cheque being made payable to not the right organisation - my fault!), Simon B (£12 outstanding). Please forward your money to me and make cheques payable to South Hampshire Quest by this Tuesday if you're coming to club night and email me if you want my address to send it to. Please make sure that the money is on my doormat by Friday this week. Anyone not booked in, but wanting to come along - be quick; there are a few spaces left..

It promises to be a great party and we have some awesome charades to find out what you are having on your plate! Yes, this was discovered last night in the pub.. Venison, Steak, Turkey - you name it; we can charade it.. But you probably would like to find out what happened at the full weekend and not just our Pear, Raspberry and Lime cider stories..

Well, on Friday we arrived the last - even Brenda was already there and they (Original Mike, Paralytic Mike, Ian, Brenda, Alan, Michaela, Hannah, Steve - under the leadership of Trip Organiser Vanessa) were badgered out of the pub by us as we needed some muscles to move all the food out of our car into the apartment. The weekend had started for most of them just before 4pm with some slightly alcoholic beverages. So, after we stuffed the fridges, it was time to head to Burger King for Friday Night Dinner for 10! After this yummy dinner (yes, most women like a whopper, although I preferred mine without any healthy stuff) we went back to the pub via the pub we usually avoid (which as last year we walked in to and immediately turned around to get out - running - karaoke is only good when it is great). We managed to watch some rugby while having some drinks and a general catch up. One certain Mike kept secretly playing with his phone, Lollipop Steve FaceBooked us all into Butlins and Alan felt left out as he couldn't move his screen. The girls decided to get changed in shoes more uncomfortable and outfits more fitting for the occasion. And we were off to Centre Stage for some boogie and people watching. The drink prices were a bit shocking, but we managed to stay up until the early hours.. Even Rich didn't fall asleep before 3pm!

Saturday morning brought us a hangover, although it was worse for some... Projectile vomiting had nothing to do with the burger from the night before.. So, we left the very fragile in bed, cooked full English Breakfast (decided that breakfast for 12 will probably the maximum we can manage in that kitchen), hung around for a bit and went to watch Made in Dagenham. Well, that was a great film! Remember, it is a Right, not a Privilege - so we (the girls that is) decided to book ourselves in at the Ocean Spa for a Sunday morning 9am session (this was even before we went to see the film - very decisive Brenda!) and the boys would be sure to have breakfast ready when we got back (Girl Power! This was decided after the film). The fragile got out of bed, had some very late breakfast, went to the pub, played some pool and had a pint or two.. We took some time to catch up (on sleep, on booze, on friendship), went for a walk on the Boulevard and cooked dinner. Yes, in light of the film of the afternoon, the girls were in charge of the remote control and the boys were made to watch Strictly and Xfactor..

After that we fancy dressed up (Michaela had The Outfit of the Weekend!) and went out (well, most of us - some had plans). The Queen meets King performance was really good, lots of people were a sight to see, Mr Strong had the prettiest girl ever on his lap (really!!), we danced the night away in the silent disco (think headset, 2 channels, dance and sing along as loud and off key as you can) and Vanessa made lots of random photos on someone else's camera (next time you can have mine).

Sunday morning the girls got out of bed way on time to get to the Ocean Spa way too early - well, they told us to be there 15 minutes before, so we were and found out that they wouldn't open for another 15 minutes.. Ahwell, all signed in (nobody is pregnant) and we made our way to the Disco Shower, the Steamy Steam Room, the Snow filled Chamber (cold feet!! Get your slippers, said and did Clever Hannah), the Stone Warm Beds (yes, I did nod off), the Bubbling and Massaging Jacuzzi, the Very Dry and Hot Sauna and we even had a look (yes exactly that) at the Outside Jacuzzi. It was such a nice and relaxing way to start the day. When we got back Head Chef and Sous Chef were busy cooking! Very well done sirs! It was another very yummy breakfast (which we some how so deserved). After breakfast some went snoozing or reading and others went to see Keith Harris with Orville and Cuddles (grown up humour this time) and when they got back there was some more reading, snoozing, drinking and even swimming.

After dinner we went to watch the Xfactor results in the pub - No, we were actually waiting for the Pub Quiz to begin, but that took a while.. The tension.. It felt like a World Cup penalty shoot out.. Anyhow - happy, unhappy or simply not caring for the results we divided ourselves up in two teams, got our quiz papers and wished we watched Butlins TV.. Our team 'Dutch Courage' knew more than we thought we did (although Alan might have not been able to sleep that night if he didn't get that one answer later -> he knew he knew, but didn't at the time) and 'Orville Spanks a Monkey ' demanded a recount! Seriously! We had a great time and were broomed out of the pub, while others went for another burger, boogie and in search for that pretty girl..

Breakfast this morning was impressive again, we cleared out on time and I went back to bed once we got home.. It was a great weekend & we want to go again.. Wanna come along next time?! And anyone who did come along - feel free to add or send me the pictures of the weekend! And if you want to see what my camera came up with - have a look here.

So... What's on this week - well, tomorrow (Tuesday) we will be in the pub from 8pm for a pint and a natter. Please pay up for Christmas and also get your money to me if you want to come along on Sunday for the World Aids Day at the London Hotel.

Vanessa would like to know who would be interested in coming along to Trip to Edinburgh in August..

Helen would like to know who is coming along to The Silver Beatles on Christmas Eve..

Well, that was it from me for now.. Vanessa, did this help for your week record? Hannah, thank you! Bev, what was the date we set for your Bday Spa Party? Rich is planning on the Isle of Wight Festival - anyone else wanting to come along? And anyone any ideas yet for New Years Eve?

Have a great one & see you tomorrow!
