Marvellous Monday 17th May 2010

Well, we are still drying out.. Last week we went to The Duke again and had a great natter (and a pint). Everyone there came up with loads of ideas for our Summer Is Here program.. Have you noticed all the notifications? If not - have a look at the calendar.. It is getting nicely filled. On Thursday evening we decided to have a couple of drinks on Saturday. It turned into an Empty The Fridge Party and although we tried our hardest, there is bound to be another one coming up.. We managed to empty a few cans of beer and cider, some bottles of wine and cider and one whole bottle of Jack Daniels (you should have seen the size of the bottle). The newly brought strawberries went into the blender made Margarita's, we discovered a new cocktail - aptly named Black Pond (something with black berry vodka which looked a bit disgusting, but was delicious), the Martini Extravaganza actually tasted of alcohol and I blame my slight headache the following morning on the whiskey in the cookie dough milkshake!

As there are a load of new events posted to the website and we are expecting another load more soon, we'll go through the list backwards for fun this week..

In November we're off for another 80s Madness Butlins weekend! 12 of us are already booked in (did you all pay your second instalment?) and if you are not booked in yet - let us know that you want to come along and we put you on a wait list (we're only adding groups of 4 at the moment) and we keep you posted! On Saturday night we decided that Tetris Outfits might be proven a bit too difficult so we are going with Yuppie Miami Vice with life size 80s mobile phones..

In October it will be time once again for the Pink Ball - hosted by The London Hotel and the event will this year take place at NV. We are awaiting a bit more information and once that is in, we will post the event and get tickets sorted. For last years information and pictures (members only) have a look here.

In August we are going to the Isle of Wight for a picnic on the beach followed by fireworks! Let Vanessa know that you are coming along and what time you can make it (it's on a Friday).

Also in August we will be wondering to Chichester for the Chilli Fiesta. Hot, medium or spicy - they'll have it all! We need to buy tickets in advance, so book in now!

In July Steveski is organising a Charity 5-a-side Football Competition on the Common and he is looking for players and cheerleaders.. Contact him if you want to dribble along!

Of course also in July we will be going to the Real Jail and Ass Festival in Chichester to drink some Ale and listen to Katie Melua. Get your tickets now and let us know that you are coming along.

And we have another event added to our British Experience: Pedal Car Grand Prix! This is an event not to be missed - contact Hannah to confirm your attendance and she'll sort out the travel arrangements.

In June we are planning on Kayaking in the New Forest - the date is pencilled in and can be moved depending on majority preference. Let Laura know that you want to get wet too!

Also our 'annual' Pool Competition will take place in June - so start practising now! Again - book in as soon as, so we can get the tournament sorted.

And what do you want to be when you grow up? Get your outfit sorted for NaFoF's Belated Bday Party on Saturday the 19th of June! Ticket are available now (well, we keep a list and your name will be on there once you've paid up) and only cost £5pp which includes all your food and entertainment.

Closer by this month we will be going to a Great British Experience Event; Cheese Rolling in Gloucester. We seem to have a spare room, so if you want to come along - contact me now!

Next week we will be going to the Concorde Club for a Charity Quiz for BrandonCare. There is still room in our quiz team and if you have some brain cells spare - we could use all the help we can get!

Also next week our Summer Is Here Club Night will take place on Thursday at Trago Lounge. For this event it would be a good idea to bring your cheque book around, so you can sign in and pay-up for a load of our summer events.

But before all the above takes place - first we have to get through this week... So, tonight Smokin' Steve is taking us once again to Mo'Roller - we'll be there from 7.30pm, so get your skates on!

On Thursday it is time for Helen B's Big Birthday at Que Pasa. You all should have received your joining instructions and don't forget that bread roll!

On Friday Steveski is taking us to The Brook for some Bog Rolling Stones! Let him know that you are coming along, so we can look out for you.

And on Saturday we're off to The Nuffield Theatre for Antony & Cleopatra. Alex - could you please contact me?

Well, that was it for this week - if all goes to plan we will have all the England and all the Holland World Cup fixtures on the calendar (thank you Original Mike), so you can join us in watching this. Vanessa, could you please pick a restaurant and post the June Thursday Food for Thought? Ian will be looking into the Salisbury Food & Drink Festival and there is bound to be some more proper sporty events added soon too!

Have a great one & see you soon!
